Driver Agreement

£20 a week. No commission. Except Onde app at 10% per job.

This is the plain-English agreement that governs how you work with the Network. It spells out exactly what you pay, what you keep, and how our terms compare to Minicabit, Taxicode, iGo / OTS, CMAC, Uber, Bolt and FreeNow — so there are no surprises.

By accepting bookings through the Network or logging into the driver app, you confirm you have read and agree to the terms below.

1. Parties & status

This Agreement is between the licensed taxi / private-hire driver (or their licensed operator) ("you", "the Driver") and National Taxi And Private Hire ("we", "the Network"). You operate as an independent, self-employed contractor. Nothing in this Agreement creates an employment, agency or partnership relationship. You remain solely responsible for your own tax, National Insurance, licensing and vehicle costs.

2. What we provide

  • Access to instant-book jobs via the driver app and 24/7 control room.
  • Pre-booked, account and cross-border work distribution across our UK network.
  • Booking channels: control room dispatch, website, Farebookings, and the Onde passenger app.
  • Driver support, dispute handling, payment reconciliation and marketing to bring passengers to your area.

3. Fees — no commission except Onde

You pay a single flat subscription of £20 per week to remain active on the Network. There is no per-job commission on control-room dispatch, pre-booked work, account work or Farebookings. The only exception is the Onde passenger app, where a 10% platform fee is deducted per completed job to cover Onde platform costs and card processing. All fees are shown in full in the fee breakdown above and never change without at least 14 days' notice.

4. Fares & pricing

All fares are anchored to the current Argyll & Bute Council taxi tariff (or the equivalent local licensing tariff where applicable). We do not undercut the tariff to attract passengers and we do not price jobs below what it costs you to run them. Distance, cross-border and pre-booked quotes are calculated transparently and shown to both driver and passenger before the job is accepted.

5. Accepting & declining jobs

  • You are free to accept or decline any job for any reason.
  • Declining a job does not trigger a fine, penalty, deactivation or acceptance-rate score.
  • Repeatedly accepting and then cancelling jobs at the pickup may lead to review — this is a passenger-protection measure, not a revenue lever.
  • If you cannot cover a job, the control room simply re-dispatches it to another driver on the Network.

6. Vehicle & licensing standards

  • Current, valid taxi or private-hire driver licence for the relevant licensing authority.
  • Vehicle licensed and plated as taxi or private hire (as appropriate).
  • Valid hire-and-reward insurance covering the vehicle for the work performed.
  • Up-to-date MOT and roadworthy condition; clean interior; working seatbelts and child seat where relevant.
  • 8-seater vehicles are pre-booked private hire only — never used for local plying-for-hire work.

7. Conduct & passenger safety

  • Treat every passenger with courtesy, patience and professionalism.
  • No smoking, vaping or alcohol consumption in the vehicle at any time.
  • Use hands-free only; never use the phone in-hand while driving.
  • Follow all Highway Code, licensing and safeguarding requirements at all times.
  • Report any safeguarding, safety or dispute issue to the control room immediately.

8. Cancellations, no-shows & dead mileage

When a passenger cancels late or fails to show, our system may charge the customer a cancellation or no-show fee (including a dead-mileage travel surcharge where the driver has already travelled to the pickup). Any such fee collected is passed to you in full, minus card-processing costs where the customer paid by card. You will never be charged a fee by us for a passenger's cancellation or no-show.

9. Payments & payouts

  • Cash and card-at-the-door fares are collected by you directly.
  • In-app (Onde) fares are collected by the platform and paid out to you weekly, less the 10% Onde fee.
  • Account/invoiced work is reconciled weekly and paid to your registered bank account.
  • The £20/week subscription is collected by Direct Debit or card on file every Monday.

10. Data & privacy

Passenger contact details, pickup addresses and booking notes shared with you through the app are strictly for completing the job. You must not store, share, resell or use them for any other purpose. Data handling is covered by our Privacy Policy and UK GDPR.

11. Suspension & termination

  • You may leave the Network at any time by giving 7 days' notice by email — no exit fee.
  • We may suspend or terminate access immediately for: loss of licence, insurance or MOT; safety or safeguarding concerns; fraud; or serious breach of these terms.
  • For non-safety matters we will give reasonable notice and an opportunity to respond before termination.

12. Liability

You are responsible for your own driving, vehicle, insurance, tax and licensing. We are not liable for loss of earnings, damage, injury or fines arising from your operation of the vehicle. Our liability to you for anything arising out of this Agreement is limited to the total subscription fees you have paid us in the previous three months.

13. Changes to this Agreement

We may update this Agreement from time to time. Material changes (fees, commission, or termination rules) will be notified in-app and by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Network after that date is your acceptance of the updated terms.

14. Governing law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of Scotland (for drivers based in Scotland) or England & Wales (for drivers based elsewhere in the UK), and each party submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.

This Agreement is provided as a plain-English driver contract. It sits alongside our full Driver Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. Where any provision here conflicts with mandatory local licensing rules, the local licensing rules apply.
